JUSTIN BIEBER SUED ME

In 2021 I fully transformed into global pop icon Justin Bieber—meticulously mirroring his hair and wardrobe, and producing an entire body of work in-character to channel the pop star onto the canvas—I transcended standard impersonation to execute a profound participatory hoax. By circulating a sleek PDF catalog of available works by "Justin Bieber" that enticed serious art collectors into bidding over $100,000 for the pieces, I expertly weaponized speculative market hunger. This culminated in a red-carpet runway exhibition hosted at "Gablowsian," a satirical, tongue-in-cheek spoof of the elite Gagosian gallery, mocking the absurdity of the celebrity-art industrial complex. The audacious stunt inevitably provoked corporate retaliation and a cease-and-desist letter from Bieber’s legal team. In doing so, I weaponized intellectual property law as a raw medium, transforming the ensuing celebrity lawsuit into the ultimate conceptual artwork and proving that a legal threat can function as a legally binding certificate of authenticity in 21st-century practice.
